You tell me things
/Before I begin, I want to thank everyone who read my previous blog post. This was something I had wanted to write for a long time, and the most personal thing I’ve ever shared here.
I’ve been feeling a little tired, drained and scattered lately, so I decided to use the rest of the month to take a break from worrying about coming up with stuff for either blog on my site (I wrote this ahead of time and scheduled it to post on my normal “personal post” day; I may or may not be better but I still wanted to make sure there was some fresh content). I don’t know if it’s just the comedown from the release of the last post, but it’s left me tapped out.
There are about seven e-mails in my Gmail folder; I’m having trouble finding what it is I want to say to these people, or at least the right words to do so. I have many more people that I would love to reach out to, but I may as well send a form letter because there’s really only so much information I can give before it feels like venting or an imposition to someone that just needs to know the pleasantries. Perhaps I do all that here anyway. I think I’ve written too much about this state before.
While I recover to the point where I feel like I can make the effort to participate in your lives as opposed to observing behind glass, I’m still curious about what’s going on with you and what you have to say. It’s why I love reading my friends’ blogs and social media feeds; when I don’t have the spoons to go out in the world, I can still access what parts of yourselves you’re willing to share. I sometimes solicit people to take selfies of themselves as they are in that given moment and leave them in the comments of a Facebook post, so it doesn’t feel so much like voyeurism as an accepted invitation to share the same virtual space. (I also think a lot of my friends are photogenic and want other people to see them).
If you’re reading this, I want you to fill out this form. I’ve decided to keep this anonymous with as little identifying information as possible (It shows up in my e-mail as just a “form submission” from Squarespace). Only the first two questions are required; the rest are optional. Please feel free to elaborate at length if you feel like it; I want the anonymity of the form to allow you to open up.
